Book Fair at Bel Air may happen one big, wonderful day each August, but the work of BFBA happens all year long.
Friends of BFBA is our monthly giving program for readers and community members who want to help us keep the annual Book Fair at Bel Air free, bring affordable literacy programming into our community, and put more books into the hands of local readers.

The Longer You’re With Us, the More We Celebrate You
Your Friends of BFBA benefits are based on how long you’ve been part of the program, not how much you give. Whether you contribute $5 or $25 each month, you’re part of the same BFBA community.
When you join: We’ll send you a little thank you gift to welcome you to Friends of BFBA.
After 6 months: Your name will be included in a special Friends of BFBA display at our annual fair.
Stay with us through the full BFBA event cycle: You’ll receive an exclusive Friends of BFBA gift at the fair as our way of saying thank you for helping make another year of BFBA possible. Can’t attend? Don’t worry! We’ll mail your gift to you.
Join during September 2026 and stay through August 2027 to receive all three.
Where Does Your Donation Go?
Your monthly support gives BFBA something incredibly valuable: reliable funding we can count on throughout the year.
Friends of BFBA donations help us:
- Cover the everyday operating costs that keep BFBA running, from insurance and technology to the less-exciting-but-very-necessary expenses behind a growing nonprofit.
- Keep the annual Book Fair at Bel Air FREE for all attendees, so cost is never a barrier to experiencing a day centered around books, authors, and community.
- Offer low-cost literacy programming throughout the year, creating more opportunities for people to read, make, gather, and connect.
- Bring two free book fairs into the Harford County community, serving local elementary students and older adults. Details coming soon!
A Little Goes a Long Way
You don’t have to make a huge donation to make a difference. $5 a month is $60 a year. And when lots of Friends give a little each month, that support helps us plan programs, pay bills, keep admission free, and say yes to more opportunities to bring books into our community.
